About Lorie Savin

Lorie has served as a referee in Oakland County since 2003 helping families resolve their disputes in family court. Previously, Lorie represented individuals in private practice and at legal aid. She has also served as a Guardian ad Litem for children in abuse and neglect cases. Early in her career Lorie was also a court-approved family law mediator and community trainer in domestic violence and alternative dispute resolution.

A long-term board member, Lorie is currently the Vice President of the Referees Association of Michigan and serves as the Editor in Chief of its publication, Referees Quarterly.

Lorie is an appointee on both the State Bar of Michigan’s Judicial Ethics Committee and the SBM’s Professionalism Workgroup. She previously served on its Professional Standards Steering Committee.

Lorie is a member of the State Bar of Michigan Family Law Section and
Oakland County Bar Association. She is also a Michigan State Bar Foundation Fellow and an Oakland County Bar Foundation Fellow.

Lorie has been published in the Michigan Bar Journal, the Michigan Family Law Journal, Laches (published by the Oakland County Bar Association), and Referees Quarterly.

Lorie has also been involved in her community through many organizations including her daughters’ schools and soccer teams, her Temple, and other communal organizations.
